People come to me for many reasons. To pick up something they left behind when they were small. For a change of environment. To get certs. To play for leisure. Or simply, to feel the joy and satisfaction that comes from learning something new.
A concise philosophy guides my teaching, which is to:
- Teach how to learn
- Help discover personal rewards and enjoyment in music-making
- Encourage self-direction
- Value process over outcome
The benefits I thus hope to provide students are:
- An enduring skill that provides pleasure
- An outlet for creativity
- A sense of responsibility and achievement for making an honest effort
- Confidence in facing new challenges
